January 2020 Primary Purpose:
The College and Career Readiness Advisor is responsible for guiding students through individualized career assessments and interest inventories as well as providing career awareness/career advisement to fully develop each student's academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special populations' students.
These duties will include coordinating college tours, connecting students with resources and scholarships, and maintaining student progress data and reports.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):
Bachelor's degree and training or certification in counseling/career services.
Experience with college and career counseling, college admissions, career planning and employment services.
Higher education admissions/advising experience.
Major
Responsibilities:
1.
Provide comprehensive services and information resources that enable students to take active responsibility for their college and career decisions and job searches.
Guide individuals and groups of students to develop education plans and career awareness.
2.
Equip students to make college and career plans by facilitating awareness of their work-related strengths, interests, and values and by fostering an understanding the world of work.
3.
Teach campus developmental college and career curriculum consistent with district's guidance program plan and tailored to campus needs.
Assist teachers in the teaching of college and career-related curriculum.
4.
Provide individual and groups' college and career advising services to students.
5.
Develop college and career services and counseling approaches for changing student populations including minority students, non- traditional students, English language learners, and returning students.
6.
Collaborate with administrators, staff, and campus departments to identify, define, and meet students' college and career planning and placement objectives.
7.
Educate the school staff, parents, and community about the college and career program through a public information program.
Consult parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant people to enhance their work with students.
8.
Supervise the acquisition, maintenance, and dissemination of information regarding college admissions, career fields, employment opportunities, and specific employers for full-time, part-time, internship and work-study opportunities.
9.
Work with school and community personnel to bring together resources for students.
10.
Develop and direct programs and services designed to equip students and alumni with necessary job search skills and employment preparation strategies.
11.
Plan college and career programs to ensure that they meet identified needs, priorities, and program objectives.
12.
Develop and oversee marketing strategies and resources to identify and bring recruiters and potential colleges and employers on-site.
13.
Plan and facilitate summer communications and activities to support graduates' transition to post-secondary opportunities.
14.
Participate and facilitate ARD, 504, LPAC, and other meetings as necessary.
15.
Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
16.
Adhere to ethical and legal standards and model behavior that is professional, and responsible.
17.
Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
18.
Follow Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.
19.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain emotional control under stress; prolonged use of computer; may require work outside the normal work week; must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry at least 20 lbs.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
