com Shop Helper/ Shipping & Receiving Job Description A Shop Helper's main job is to receive incoming material/hardware and get orders packaged and ready to ship - along with help our fabricators with grinding, sweeping, lifting/material handling, cleaning, and setting up materials for welding.
We are looking for a Shop Helper who has experience with the following:
1) Forklift experience is a must, ensuring safe operations with the equipment and able to maintain a forklift to company and OSHA standards.
2) You must be organized and help keep the shop materials labeled and correctly stored for easy accountability and access.
Along with keeping packaged, outgoing orders clearly marked and stored safely and securely.
3) Assist with setting up a welding machine, diagnose problems, and perform basic maintenance.
4) Assist with basic layout of plates, holes, bends, etc.
Be willing to learn how to use basic layout tools like scribes, squares, tapes, protractors, etc.
5) A Shop Helper needs to be humble and ready to learn every day.
Our shop utilizes new techniques to produce unique parts every day.
So, no matter your experience, we are a team here and need team players that want to make everyone better.
6) Maintain machines, tools, and workspace in accordance with 5S methodology, industry standards, and company guidelines.
7) Maintain a clean and safe work environment and help keep the shop and yard free of debris.

Additional technical skills that would be especially helpful are:
1) Cutting (Bandsaw & Coldsaw) 2) Grinding & Blending (Disk grinders, air grinders, DA sanders, etc) 3) Drilling (Drill press, mag drill) 4) Hardware Insertion (PEM machine) Additional responsibilities of employees of American Precision Engineering include:
1) Assuring that the work being performed meets the quality control standards of the customer and the company.
2) Developing process improvements that reduce cost and improve quality.
3) Continually develop your personal skill set in all aspects of your job.
